CORPORATE ACTIVITIES YEAR 2021
1. Assistance to the Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) Olive B, Johor Bahru
Johor State Government through District Disaster Management Committee has activated the Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) Olive B, Johor Bahru on 13 June 2021. This centre is able to accommodate up to 585 patients of level 1 and 2 Covid-19 and this PKRC is also reserved for women, pregnant women and children under 12 years old. As the largest manufacturer of personal care products in Johor Bahru, Southern Lion Sdn. Bhd. is pleased to contribute to this initiative through donations of Shokubutsu Active Guard Handwash, Biozip detergent, Fresh & White toothpaste, Kodomo Lion toothbrush & toothpaste and Emeron lotion. The donation was received by Mr. Sufian Suleiman, Deputy Director of PKRC Olive B from Southern Lion Sdn Bhd’s representative, Ms Farizah Abd Rahman.
2. TOP Contributes Detergent Care Packs to Uplift Spirits Of The MOH COVID-19 Patient-Facing Front Liners and Encourage Teen Vaccination
TOP detergent aims to create a virtuous circle of uplift and support that includes hard-pressed MOH COVID-19 patient-facing front liners, while motivating more people to sign up for, and receive their vaccination. TOP detergent contributed 17,000 Advanced Micro-Clean Tech detergent care packs to MOH COVID-19 patient facing front liners, vaccinators from 17 KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ Healthcare) Pusat Pemberian Vaksin (PPVs) and front line staff at six Anjung Singgah social intervention centres for the homeless. Approximately 96,000 TOP detergent packs have been and are still continuing to be given out to the vaccinated, including 6,000 packs earmarked for 12 to 17 year olds who received their first dose of the vaccine.
Additionally, TOP has debuted Bebas Melangkah (Freedom), an uplifting and upbeat music video to shine a light on front liners, vaccinators and those who are stepping up to be vaccinated to stay strong and united in the face of COVID-19. The uplifting song was written and composed by Amy Bong, with soaring vocals by Amira Othman and Irfan Harris. Catch the music video on YouTube, and share it to show your support for our frontliners.
3. Fight Covid-19 from School: School Reopening Contribution to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kangka Tebrau
Malaysia is currently in recovery mode with vaccination rates at over 90%, and fewer new daily cases . All sectors are reopening safely, including the education sector. Since the schools are welcoming back the students, we feel obliged to keep our adopted school, Sekolah Kebangsaan Kangka Tebrau a safe place for the students and to ensure that the students always maintain good hygiene to curb this pandemic. Hence, we contributed Kodomo Lion toothbrush, Kodomo Lion Toothpaste and Fresh & White toothpaste together with Kirei Kirei handwash to the school in order to celebrate the safe reopening of Sek Keb Kangka Tebrau. Let’s pray this pandemic is over soon and our future leaders are able continue their education as usual.
4. Flood Donation Through Malaysian Red Crescent Society (PBSM)’s Disaster Relief Team
Early December 2021 was a devastating week for our fellow Malaysians in Selangor, KL, Pahang & Negeri Sembilan. Thousands of lives were badly affected by the flood, one of the worse to hit central of Peninsula Malaysia in the past few decades. Malaysians were left homeless, hungry and helpless while waiting for search and rescue teams. Many were traumatized after waiting for more than 24 hours for help to arrive.
Temporary relief centers (PPS) were opened to provide temporary shelter for the victims. As a responsible Corporate Citizen, Southern Lion Sdn Bhd donated personal care and hygiene products through the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (PBSM)’s Disaster Relief Team. We donated Bio Zip Detergent Powder, Shokubustu Active Guard Body Shower Foam, Emeron Shampoo, Systema Toothbrush, Fresh & White Toothpaste and Kodomo Lion Toothbrush & Toothpaste.
